Parks & Recreation
Recently, approximately 460 people completed our online survey about the delivery of services, facilities and programs through the Logansport Parks and Recreation Department. We appreciate all those people taking time to help us by providing feedback. The survey results have been tabulated, and you can view a powerpoint document in a pdf file to view those results. The Logansport Parks & Recreation Department manages 21 different parks & recreational facilities in 294 acres of public land. Community favorites include the Dykeman Park Municipal Golf Course, Fairview Park's baseball fields, the Benjamin Long Recreation Center, and the Tower Park Municipal Swimming Pool. The Cass County Dentzel Carousel (managed by the Cass County Carousel Corporation) is located at Riverside Park and is on the National Register of Historic Places. The Little Turtle Waterway Plaza and Trail -located in the heart of Downtown Logansport - is the beginning of Logansport's trail efforts and with more to come that will accommodate our community's changing lifestyle. The parks & their programs are managed by the Logansport Parks Board & Parks Administrator Janet Fawley, with 11 full-time staff, and 50 part-time/seasonal staff.
The Parks Department also supports &/or plans many community events that are enjoyed by people of all ages. Residents & visitors alike enjoy the Family Arts Festival in September, the Light Up Logansport Parade & Park Display for the holiday season, the Daddy-Daughter Valentine Dance, and the Independence Day Celebration.
